  1. The sad part about this song, as well as others within Cleansing Winds from Sons of Liberty's first album, Boiling Point and Days of Rage from Dystopia, is that they all detail Jon's dissent into being swayed by and overtaken with the delusions of what was happening in the United States.

Cleansing Winds marked a shift in songwriting for Jon. He was able to streamline the intangible air that thoughts and ideals roamed and brought it to life with words and music. Future sounds of Iced Earth owe everything to the Sons of Liberty project in that regard.

Boiling Point and Days of Rage are the works of a person channeling anger through a very real medium that seemed to be helpful for Jon, as he felt his music was more the way to reach people. Through this, the use of the excuse to separate the art from the artists is valid, as his actions in his beliefs about government corruption was strictly expressive and not outwardly aggressive towards others.

Raven Wing, while being very much a sister song to Cleansing Wind, shows Jon's ideation tied to tangible things. Never had Jon ever put his stock into one thing or one person. As beautiful as Raven Wing is, it symbolizes the shift in him carrying himself within the sole concept of something. This deep understanding and bond to a spiritual idol made it easier for him to jump onto the wagon of coins that Trump's propaganda spewed. This tie to a spiritual idol couldn't have come at a worse time, as it marked the first time Jon bought all in politically, and it resulted in what happened at DC.

I don't listen to this band anymore, and I totally respect the views of other people. I hope his songs serve as a message against paranoia, brainwashing, cult followings, and delusions of grandure. Hope this helps anyone still on the fritz about this guy and this band.

  2. How i hope that a monster does a cover for that masterpiece . I cant believe there is no cover for this absolutely underrated song on the whole utube . What a shame !!! Iced earth will die virgin !!!

  3. This song portrays the sadness and melancholy I felt during the BLM-riots, on November 3d and January 6th.

All hail Jon Schaffer, President Trump and America. Greetings from Sweden.

  4. Despite all that went down I'll still be a fan of iced earth. Once one always one. It's most unfortunit what happened happened. I will continue to play iced earth on my live broadcasts. I guess for the time being ashes of ares is the closest thing we have. I still wonder what a song like this would have turned out with matt singing it. I'm still a barlow fan through and through.

  5. ive always said, theres a new Iron Maiden in town. why these guys dont really seem to tour together is beyond me. Even This band is getting older now and they really should go out there with Bruce and Steve Harriss as a huge Thank you.
