STREET FIGHTER 6 GUILE IMPROVEMENT FEEDBACK (Clueless GUILE ガイル)
I WILL MAKE A SHORTER ANALYSIS ON THIS VIDEO IN A FEW DAYS
If you want to support the channel you can become a member! You will get some emojis for live chat and comment section as well. These are not set in stone and could change!
– When you have the advantage ( ryu is in burnout), be more aggressive, do not walk yourself into the corner when its your time to walk him into the corner
– optimize your punishes, instead of LP X FK, do HK sweep-target x FK
My Guile advice for them would be many things I picked up from this channel.
1. Practice capitalizing on counters so it becomes second nature.
2. Using the spacing guide from this channel to understand Guile's sweetspot.
3. Make sure when they get a chance to punish that they're not leaving damage on the floor. In the first round they pulled off jumping HK into HP (with meter) and didn't convert into a bigger combo OR use it to set up spacing or OKI.
4. Most importantly, practice the charge feeling until it feels natural. When they're burned out I noticed crouching HP coming out because they tried to get booms out too early.
5. They should always watch this channel! I changed my practice up based on lessons from your channel and it truly made me better across all my characters. So thank YOU for this channel.
6. Keep it up! Protect these skies 💪. Guile is so fun and I hope this Guile continues to enjoy how much of a blast he is to play in SF6.
A lot of missed AA oprtunities. Need to really drill the use of sMK (this button should be integral to your AA gameplan) when they react (as opposed to anticipate) to a boom and cHP (when they are close and jumping in on top of you)
Instead of holdin back to charge, hold down-back so you can react to jumps with flash kick and also dont back urself into the corner. And you dont always need to charge, switch it up with walkin forward and poking with cr.mk, fw.mk and st.fierce (for example).
Play casualmatches where u only focus on:
Booms + flash kick
and
Only doin normals, no boom or flash kick
Might feel wierd in the beginning but when you piece it all together it will feel great, GL 🙂
Practice anit-airs with normals. Use pokes more.
0:15 Ryu blocked Guile back fist. I was yelling “YOU ARE PLUS!! THIS IS YOUR MOMENT!” Ryu pressed buttons too after so Guile coulda got a good combo in.
In round 2 of the first match, you could've punished him more with DR combo linked with a lv1 super when he whiffed the DP and was burnt out. Practice those reactions and longer punish combos.
Ok this is an issue I see with a lot of Guiles. Even in master
1. Spending more time trying to get in. Guile is usually not the aggressor in most matchups. You tried to get in by jumping and drive rushing. Which is not going to work
2. Absolutely not comfortable in the zoning game. It’s clear in fireball wars you just want to get in and not play it. But this is Guile’s main strength. He literally out zones the entire cast but JP. It’s is the Ryu player who needs to get in
3. Uncomfortable charging. Too many missed charges
4. AA game isn’t the worst. But can be improved. Cr. Mk is good against Ryu’s jump ins
5. Really bad in defense. I can tell you want to get the hell out of there so you hit lots of buttons under pressure. This Ryu just really didn’t capitalize but against stronger completion you would die pretty fast. You have to be comfortable being on defense and taking pressure as Guile. You will be pressured a lot playing this character and you can’t give the attacker what they want. Definitely need to start learning how to parry. Backdash. Counter poke. And learn how to not be predictable with your reversal. You have to mixup defense so you can make the attacker hesitate or get frustrated trying to open you up.
6. Offense with Guile is ok. But you really can’t center your entire play style around it. Especially when you’re not familiar with the player. But Guile offense opens up when you are able to
Zone well. Once your zoning is solid then you can sneak in things like dr bazooka knee or a drive rush overhead or cr. Mk. Issue with Guile offense is that it’s very predicable. Guile is more about your opponent worrying about if you will or won’t go in more so than it’s about them worrying about if they can defense against your options. It is very hard to be unpredictable with Guile offensively . That is why varying defense and offense is important. It’s a mind game for your opponent. Get them frustrated by keeping them out. Then when they slow down trying to read your zoning you surprise them with some offense. You have to kind of earn your offense against good players who are diamond and over
All in all not super bad. I think the more psychological aspects of Guile are things you have to explore. Guile is more about the mental game than he is so super technical character. You’re not optimal combo wise either Guile but that’s not your main issue. Your neutral and approach is off so know better combos isn’t going to help because you’ll never get to land them anyway. I really think you have to get comfortable zoning with Guile. Thads the biggest flaw I could see
Most of the Ryu's jump-ins I've seen from mid range could've been stopped with your standing MK. The distance was optimum. There are also some times where you could've charged some Flash Kicks by immediately holding DF after the forward motion at the momment the Boom comes out. This is more of a "bait a jump" move, so it's risky. Your reads have to be on point, and you have to commit (Knuckledu is god tier at this). I've also seen some DIs that didn't need to be there. Save those for an opportune corner trap.
A tip for any character really. Don't always push a button when the opponent is in minus. Sometimes it's better to just look what the opponent does and be ready for any opportunity.
Stop doing the panic c.Hk when a string is blocked or a button is whiffed. When sonic blade is up there’s no reason to drive rush through it. Work on precise boom execution or timing, there were a lot of times you were doing c.HP trying to boom when a boom was still on the screen. Didn’t notice any consistency when it came to anti airs so if you ever anti aired it was probably just lucky, you have flash kick, air grab, stand Mk, and crouch Hp, just tons of solid anti air options. Over extending with ex booms and going into burnout without getting any advantage or reward for it. Just not blocking in general. A lot of seemingly random jumping, when a fundamentally sound guile almost never needs to jump. You were either full screen or right up on your opponent, no mid game, which means not footsies which means no confidence in your understanding of the characters normals.

Do these players submit these replays for analysis to the community? If so, a good idea is to
1) Have them comment on the video with what they know they need to work on. That way we can skip all of the comments just echoing each other.
2) Do a follow-up video. Are these players actually improving? What is their progress after they get reviewed by the community?
3) These videos have so much that need critiquing that a YouTube comment will not do it justice. 10 seconds into the video I can tell he’s not fully comfortable charging because he’s missing easy anti airs and getting F+HP and Cr.HP as an error for sonic boom. You definitely should consider do a live talk through on these types of videos if possible.
I like these videos. Keep it up fam. You’re actually inspiring me to start using my YouTube channel and put out some Guile knowledge.
Going to keep it short and sweet
1) Go to the training room and just throw sonic booms. Lots of input errors on sonic boom due to timing changes.
2) Get comfortable with doing nothing. 9/10 times, Guile has a psychological advantage.
3) Anti Air. Anti Air. Anti Air. You MUST anti air. As Guile, you will miss anti airs. It will happen. You need to get most of them in order to win matches at a higher level and more consistently.
4) Meter management is key! You were in burnout a lot. Understanding when and where you can spend meter and HOW to get that meter back after you spend it is key.
Keep up the good work! You’ll get to the next level if you focus on these 4 things. Losses are good!
Id love to have my replays uploaded for feedback! My cfn is Flamingo and I'm currently diamond as well. I've played almost exclusively guile since the beta
Lots of pros here I see 😊😂
If there's one thing to focus on for the most improvement, it's probably anti-airs. Charge down back after a boom to have somersault ready for a jump in, or just be ready to react with s.MK or d.HP after one boom. I think Ryu figured out by the third round that he was pretty much free to jump whenever he wanted, and used it both to get in when needed and to avoid your DI and rush down when he was on burnout.
Another thing would probably be to keep closer so your projectiles are harder to react to, and so you can easily drive rush in for extra pressure. There was some difficulty countering Ryu's hadokens at some moments because Ryu had time to react to booms from across the screen. Charge down back to stay in place when you need to stay in place, and if you accidentally walk too far back from charging, throw a bazooka knee or two to get closer while keeping the charge ready.
Not a bad showing though. Keep it up.
Well played man. The only thing I ve noticed:try to hide your booms, avoid boom patterns especially when Ryu is in range to punish you with a jump or a di. I have to work on that too. 😎
I thought you were just making fun of them, but their tag is actually "Clueless". In general, the biggest thing this player needs to do is hold downback instead of back. They're ignoring the real estate of the stage, which is a huge factor in this game. Also Guile isn't good full screen, full screen just gives him an opportunity to set-up pressure at an optimal range.
