Jeon Somi gave MAMA audiences a world class performance, it was excellent on every level. What was most important was that both songs are very good. The Way is so good, but I think it needs another chorus to complete it. Somi's voice is top tier–its lower register makes it much easier to listen to. Fast Forward is a hybrid of Pop and House and is catchy and danceable. In addition to great music, Somi is personally drop-dead gorgeous, kind-hearted, extroverted, funny, and gregarious–which is an intoxicating mix of attractive qualities for a pop star. Somi basically got the opportunity to sing her latest on a global concert stage which will no doubt help further her career–but MNET is very fortunate to have someone like Somi as host.
I have a few niggles with the stage. Somi looked great in black, but the stage was so dark, she became lost, especially when the lighting was so poor. I think the Japanese MNET staging people try to impress with a massive presentation using every technical capability they can, which overwhelms the individual performer's visual presentation. The lighting was poor last year too, when Somi's dance with LeeJung Lee was in the dark and unviewable.
What MNET needs is artistic taste. Sometimes less is more.
wow! I´m so happy she brought the dancers from her comeback, but seening the hole production, the rest of the dancers, she shine so hard! so impresive!
