  1. when a 2003 animation is better than a 2017 one
Edit:To clarify i Don't think kinos journey 2017 is bad i think its actually pretty good after a rewatch but i will still stick with my opinion that 2003 is still slightly better

  2. This is top anime trash. Can't believe they remade this. Only reason it keeps being revived is the main protagonist is gay.

  3. The anime added some backstories to the opponents as well as some flashy moves and extra drama to make it more visually entertaining. The light novel plays it pretty straight and is much more realistic in how the action is handled, but it probably wouldn't make for good anime to have it performed so efficiently. Some of the additions in the anime are pretty good, such as having the girl gunner killed to show us the depravity of the king.

The newer anime is much more faithful to the light novel in terms of the opponents, their designs, and their dialogue… but wow, they also skip over all the action in between lol. For example the girl with the gun had her action entirely skipped over (the older anime providing a closer picture). The reason she has blood coming from her head is cuz Kino was throwing rocks. Anyways, a mix of both the old and new anime is the most faithful picture if you're interested in accuracy to source material.

Eeither way I like how there's now like 3 renditions (and therefore interpretations) of this story, it's always stuck in my mind from when i watched it over a decade ago. I never really liked the designs of the old anime, but the new one lacks impact in its direction… so if the old anime looked like the new one, i think that'd be the best of both works, I could be pretty happy with that
