  3. One of my friends works as a location scout for MVs and she said it looks like one of the sets at the Paramount Studio Lot or the Universal Studio Lot. They have permanent sets made like suburban LA, a central New York street and various road set ups like a highway amongst others. They were created because certain locations are always in demand so it is cheaper and easier to rent the set and use props to make it more
    realistic looking.

But it is also pretty easy to get permission to use actual streets. That intersection could be in any part of the country not necessarily LA, and because it's likely a smaller town or city zone, a price is agreed that will go into the coffers for road maintenance etc, increasing the budget for that year. My friend finds locations at least six months before filming so the public can be warned about road closures in advance. What is making me think it's a film studio lot is the uniformity of the houses and landscaping– although that can be done for the video then returned to how the home owner wants it, however it is unlikely for an MV, that tends to be big budget moves and TV shows financial territory. Also there's absolutely no cars. If you look at the Chk Chk Boom making of, there are public cars in shot but blurred as they filmed in New York. The driveways and pavements in this MV are completely clean and look freshly painted which is another hint it is a fake location, although if there's a 'making of' behind video released it'll be all on there.
