Censorship in Russia got to the level when it’s physically dangerous to voice an opinion that doesn’t get along with Putin’s ideas. Not all people stay silent though. In this video I will talk about my favorite musicians who dared to stand by their opinions and use their voice to speak against the war and cruelty happening in Ukraine.

  1. What's with the two people wearing what look like cartoon animal costumes at 2:25? Always good to hear from you. Be safe. Be well. May all your ups and downs have only soft landings. ☮🕊☯💙💛💙💛💙💛🙏4 Ukraine.

  2. What's bizarre about Russia is that the cow has already left the barn. The chickens have flown over the coop. The cork has already left the bottle. How on earth is Putnik and his FSB/KGB/Siloviki going to reverse time itself? Russia under Putin is like some bad dream, it has to end and people must wake up at some point. 🏔️

  3. Thanks for linking to those artists. As a fan of 90s and 00s alternative rock, I had a good feeling about Noize MC and I was not disappointed. I can't thank you enough for the recommendations. I think I found a new favourite. Cheers from Pittsburgh in the US.

  4. Nicky, there's one thing you might have forgotten. Average Russians pay for the penal system with their taxes. Russian leaders profit from people in jail. Jail is a vacuum cleaner looking for small fry and foreign agents, alike.

  5. Alexsei Pivovar is the guy who created 'Redaktsiya'. He has been labelled as a foreign agent but is clearly still in Russia, still producing much seen videos, and has even left Russia and returned at least two times since the start of the war. The only bad thing that I can tell that has happened to him is that one St. Petersburg museum wouldn't collaborate with him (it was a state run museum). It doesn't seem taht being labeled a innoagent is a big deal right now at least.

In contrast, a famous CNN newsreader just got sent to rehabilitation, and will likely get fired, for saying that women are in their prime in their 20s and 30s.

  6. Then you're not going back… Simple as that… If you have to renew your passport, find out if you can renew abroad. That's what I'll do in 2028. Watch out, though, you have 207,000 subscribers. You may find yourself on that list sooner than you realize. Stay safe!

On another thought… I thought we had it bad in America (we do), but I'm hearing from vloggers myself that things are even worse in Russia. See, America is a relatively new country, though founded by demons nonetheless. I think that Russia, with its very far north climate and history, has had more time to devolve for many more centuries, and this is what America would look like in another century or two.

  7. I like how you did things different in this video, all the little movie tricks and labels, very playful. I also agree with other comments, I am also interested in ‚positive stuff‘ from russia. And I like how you portrait other people, this episode was informative and entertaining 🫶

  8. Nice update Niki, good to see you're still active. And huge respect to those Russian musicians and artists, whom actually voice their opposition to the oppression going on in their beloved motherland. Stay safe Niki.
